We cordially invite you to participate in the Colorado Springs All City High School Dance & Talent Competition (CSACHSDTC). The event will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2011 at the Colorado College Cornerstone Arts Center, located at the corner of 825 N. Cascade and E. Cache La Poudre Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903;  4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. (Doors will open at 4:00 PM- event will start 5:00 PM.)  Auditions will be conducted from 10 am to 2 pm on March 19, 2011 at the Olympic Training Center - Gold Room at 1750 East Boulder Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. 

The event is a Scholarship fundraiser in which all proceeds will support the Xi Pi Chapter “Uplift Foundation”. The Uplift Foundation is a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that supports our annual Scholarship Program, Minority Health Fair, the Charles Drew Blood Drive, the Youth Mentoring Program, and our Holiday Giving Programs.  All Colorado High School dance squads, step teams and students with an artistic and/or creative talent (artist, musicians, spoken word, instrumental solo’s) are encouraged participate.

The competition will have two categories:

  1. The Team Dance/Step competition will have 3 winners.  1st Place-$200, 2nd Place-$100, 3rd Place $50. 
  2. The Talent competition will have 3 winners. 1st Place-$100, 2nd Place $75, 3rd Place $50 dollars. Select judges will review and score the performances.  To participate in this event, complete the registration packet and email ASAP to jjgatlin@hotmail.com

The Step/Dance Team entry fee for this event is $25.00. Please mail the fee to Jerald Gatlin (CSACHSDTC), 4930 Wilkin Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80911.  (Make the payment to Omega Psi Phi Uplift Foundation).  There is no entry fee for Individual performer’s competing in the event.  For additional information, please call (719) 229-7606 or visit the Omega website at www.coloradospringsques.org.  Fax: 719-465-2744.

Participants must be registered by Saturday, March 19th.  High School teens and children may purchase tickets for $5 (children under 5 are free).  Adult tickets are $10. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased from Schools, Team Coaches and Music Teachers participating in the event.  You may also contact Jerald Gatlin at 229-7606, Joel Barber at 684-4178 or Brett Britton at 232-6796 for tickets.  Credit Cards will not be accepted; we will accept checks.

To participate, you must send a representative to a mandatory meeting at the designated time and place 3 weeks prior to the event.  (Jerald Gatlin will contact you with further instructions).   • To provide a vehicle for the Chapter to accumulate financial resources to sustain its charitable activities on an on-going base at a predictable level

The Foundation’s current educational and charitable programs include:

  • ScholarshipsThe Uplift Foundation provides scholarships to graduating high school students who live in and around The Greater Colorado Springs, CO Area. Scholarship awards are granted annually in April. The Scholarships are to provide educational assistance to the students who meet the selection criteria to assist with defraying college related expenses
  • Project ManhoodThe Uplift Foundation, Inc. provides mentoring, youth development and enrichment services to minority residents of The Greater Colorado Springs, CO Area.  Project Manhood is a mentoring program administered by Xi Pi Chapter - Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Uplift Foundation, Inc. for underprivileged males between the ages of 9-17. Regular monthly meetings focus on science and technology, math, English, self-esteem, and leadership training. The program is coordinated by members of the corporation
  • Holiday Giving Program The Uplift Foundation provides food, clothing and financial assistance to families in need during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday season
  • Health FairThe Uplift Foundation, in conjunction with the Xi Pi Chapter and Memorial Hospital, is a co-sponsor of the Colorado Springs African-American Health Fair designed to address the unique health issues confronting the African-American community
  • Charles Drew Blood DriveThe Uplift Foundation, in conjunction with the Xi Pi Chapter and Memorial Hospital, co-sponsors the Charles Drew Blood Drive to help raise the awareness of the need for an ongoing supply of blood to support medical needs of the community
